Care Facility Visitation Policy – Summary

Permitted Visits:
– Visiting a resident (must be with a parent, guardian, or temporary carer if under 18 years old)
– Nominated person under the Mental Health Act 2014
– Providing essential care and support necessary for the resident’s immediate physical or emotional wellbeing
– Providing interpreter or informal language support
– Learning to support a resident’s care after discharge
– Providing end-of-life support (subject to visitor limits)

You Cannot Visit If You:
– Are awaiting a COVID-19 test result (unless tested as part of regular surveillance testing)
– Are unwell with any COVID-19 symptoms or have a temperature of 37.5°C or higher
– Have arrived from overseas in the last 14 days (unless from a green zone on a quarantine-free flight)
– Have had known contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 14 days
– Are self-isolating and have not been cleared to exit isolation
– Have visited a Tier 1 exposure site and are required to isolate
– Are under 16 years of age, unless:
– Providing end-of-life support and are a child, grandchild, sibling, or in a kinship relation
– A dependent of a permitted visitor with no alternative care available
– Approved by the hospital and the Chief Health Officer


Ongoing COVID-19 Measures:

– Daily COVID-19 testing is required for all staff and visitors
