We’re proud to spotlight the outstanding leadership of James Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer of the Aboriginal Community Elders Service (ACES).

With decades of experience and a lifelong dedication to community service, James has played a pivotal role in strengthening ACES and supporting the wellbeing of Elders across Victoria.

James brings a rich professional background, including past roles as CEO of the Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative and Manager of Koori Education with the Department of Education and Training. His leadership extends to board service at both state and national levels, where he continues to advocate for Aboriginal communities.

A long-serving member of the VACCA Board for 19 years, James was also a founding member of Victoria’s first Aboriginal Youth Advisory Committee and a participant in the Koori Leadership Program, reflecting his lifelong commitment to empowering Aboriginal youth and future leaders.

Since stepping into the CEO role at ACES, James has led with vision and determination. His efforts were instrumental in securing funding for the recent renovation of the ACES Administration building; an important investment in the future of our organisation and the community we serve.

We are deeply grateful for James’ leadership and ongoing dedication, and we look forward to the continued growth of ACES under his guidance.
